DON’T MISS YOUR CHANCE TO BE PART OF THE ACTION

story by: EVE CONWAY, ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

Not long now until the main flagship event of the year for Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland, the Rotary Action Summit in Newcastle, and there is still time to register for this exciting event, if you haven’t done so already.

You’ll have the opportunity to come together, network, learn and be inspired and go away motivated to take action.

The summit has an action-packed programme and we're excited to have Rotary leaders from across Great Britain and Ireland and the world joining us.

We have a fantastic line up of outstanding speakers. I am delighted that Rotary International’s General Secretary and CEO John Hewko has accepted my invitation to be there along with RI President-Elect Mario Cesar Martins de Camargo, and Chair-Elect of the Trustees of The Rotary Foundation and past RI President Holger Knaack.

Other speakers include Sona Bari, Head of Resource Mobilisation and Communication for Polio Eradication at the World Health Organization and Professor Fiona Macaulay, Director of the Rotary Peace Centre at Bradford University, one of seven Rotary Peace Centres worldwide which have trained more than 1,700 peace fellows from around the globe, who will bring a peace fellow with her.

“You’ll have the opportunity to come together, network, learn and be inspired.”

Speakers at the Rotary Action Summit include John Hewko, Rotary International General Secretary, and Holger Knaack, past Rotary International President and Foundation Trustee Chair Elect.

From closer to home, Nitesh Joshi, Chair of the Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland Board, will be bringing you updates on the first year of our North Star pilot project, with the goal of 60,000 members by 2028, and how it's helping grow the organisation.

Taking place from November 8 to 10 at the Crowne Plaza Stephenson Quarter Hotel, right in the centre of Newcastle, our theme will be ‘North Star – One Year In’.

Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland is one of only two regional pilots in the world with its North Star project and you’ll find out more about four membership channels into Rotary GB&I: traditional and new-style clubs, corporate membership and our two brand new types of membership that don’t exist anywhere else in the Rotary world: Direct Membership which is a method of joining Rotary GB&I as an individual rather going through a specific club and Enterprise Membership where staff of companies or organisations from around 100 to 1,000 employees become Rotary members. You’ll hear from our first Enterprise Membership client.
