Rotarians get egg-cited for charity
Two structural engineering teams of egg-cited Bexhill Rotarians went with high hopes of one of them winning when they took part in the Great Egg Race in Eastbourne Old Town to support a local charity, the JPK Sussex Project.
The Great Egg Race is an annual fun challenge for Sussex Rotary clubs to build a structure with the barest of materials.
This year’s challenge was to build two structures to hold marbles, one to be as tall as possible and the other to hang out over the edge of a table as far as possible.
The winners were the team the sum of whose structure’s height and distance from the table, where building took place, was the greatest. Each team had an hour for the task and were supplied with 20 pieces of A4 paper, one metre of string, one metre of gaffer tape, Sellotape and two marbles.

The winning team came from Hailsham Rotary Club who managed over four metres, with the two Bexhill teams finished third and fourth.
Bexhill Rotary Club Secretary, Stephen White, said: “We had a fantastic, fun- filled evening and thoroughly enjoyed participating. We look forward to a return match next year when the aim will be to win.”
